What is Shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a non-invasive, holistic Japanese therapy, merging Western anatomy and physiology knowledge with ancient Oriental medical philosophy. Shiatsu translates as 'finger pressure' and the essence of Shiatsu is simply communication through touch. Read more >>>

What does Shiatsu treat?

The underlying intention of shiatsu is to maximise and balance the body's energy - how does this relate to you? Shiatsu is beneficial for many physical conditions, such as:

  • Back pain & postural issues
  • Migraines/stress induced headaches
  • Whiplash/neck & shoulder stiffness
  • Sports & general injuries
  • Work-related injuries including RSI
  • Joint pain & reduced mobility
  • Menstrual & reproductive problems
  • Digestive disorders
  • Asthmatic & respiratory problems
  • Post viral conditions
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Low self esteem
  • Tiredness & low energy levels
  • Insomnia & other sleeping disorders
  • Frustration
  • Lack of direction
  • Stress related problems
  • Grief
  • Detoxification & overcoming addiction

  How will it benefit you?

Shiatsu is holistic, encompassing all aspects of the individual.

It is thus unique for each person, and means different things to different people - some view it as a purely physical treatment, for others it enables total relaxation, and some are profoundly affected by the connection that occurs through touch. Read more >>>

A specialist chair is also available for some treatments, or for when an individual cannot lie on the floor. There is no need to remove any clothing. Read more >>>

I was ideally placed to see the areas where conventional medicine was not so effective, but where complementary medicine could really help. Read more >>>
